An electric fence does two jobs. It deters and delays physical entry, and it tells you the moment someone interferes with it. Most installations do the first well and the second badly or not at all.
A fence wired into your alarm system means a breach or a cut wire raises an alert immediately, rather than being discovered the next morning. Without that integration you have a deterrent but no warning, and the value of early warning on a perimeter is considerable.
Zone monitoring goes further, telling you which section was triggered rather than simply that something happened. On a larger property that difference matters when deciding how to respond.

Fences fail quietly
The failure mode of an electric fence is not dramatic. Vegetation grows into a line and slowly drains the voltage. A joint corrodes. An energiser weakens. The fence looks exactly the same and no longer does very much.
Because nothing announces the problem, plenty of properties are protected by a fence that has been effectively dead for months. The owner only discovers this after an incident.
Periodic voltage testing is quick and inexpensive, and it is the only way to know the fence is doing its job. If yours has not been tested in over a year, it is worth checking before anything else in your security setup.

How do I know if my fence is still working properly?
A properly working fence should give a consistent voltage reading across the full run when tested with a fence voltage meter — a sharp drop at any point usually means a break, vegetation contact, or a fault at a joint. If you're not sure what a healthy reading looks like on your system, we're happy to test it for you and explain what to watch for going forward.
Can it work during a power cut?
Yes — we fit battery backup to the energiser so your fence stays live through an outage rather than switching off exactly when you need it most. Runtime depends on the battery capacity we install, which we size to your area's typical outage pattern during the site assessment.
Can you repair a fence installed by someone else?
In most cases, yes — we service and repair existing electric fence installations regardless of who originally fitted them, including energiser replacement and rewiring. If a system uses parts we're unable to source or support, we'll tell you upfront during the assessment rather than after the callout.
